Is amanita muscaria legal?

Amanita muscaria mushrooms are legal in the United States and therefore not regulated by the Controlled Substances Act. This means possession and use of these mushrooms do not fall under federal drug laws.

The only US state where they are illegal is Louisiana where growing, selling, or possessing Amanita muscaria is prohibited.

Does Amanita muscaria make you trip?

Yes. When taken in larger quantities, it can lead to a “trippy” or hallucinatory experience.

Throughout history, shamans from Eastern Siberia and various cultures have used this mushroom as both a means of becoming inebriated and experiencing hallucinations.

It’s worth mentioning that the experience is quite distinct from that of psilocybin mushrooms, which tend to be more intense. The duration and intensity of the trips can also vary.
